Records Supervisor Linda Hoppe pushes a whipped cream pie onto the head of Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department. Leavenworth Police Department employees, family members and others offered bids Friday for the chance to put pies in the faces of the department's command staff. The event raised $56 for the Leavenworth Police Department Auxiliary.
The highest single bid was $30. This was the winning bid for putting a pie in the face of Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens. The bid was made by Assistant City Manager Paul Kramer, but he asked the chief's daughter to push the pie into Kitchens' face.
In addition to the chief and deputy chief, two lieutenants also received pies in the face. Bids were taken in an auction format outside of the Leavenworth police station, which is located at the Justice Center.
