A former Lansing Correctional Facility inmate has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison for battering a correctional officer while he was at the local prison.
Keontae D. Peters, who later was moved to the El Dorado Correctional Facility, was convicted last month in Leavenworth County District Court of battery of a state correctional officer. He was sentenced Friday to 130 months. This will run consecutive to the sentence he's already serving.
Peters reportedly punched a correctional officer May 10, 2012, while he was incarcerated at LCF. The officer's nose was fractured.
Peters is already serving a sentence for convictions in Sedgwick County for burglary, theft and aggravated escape, according to a Kansas Department of Corrections website.
Prior to Friday's sentencing in Leavenworth County District Court, Peters had been eligible for release as early as Sept. 2, 2015.
