Dwain Wesley Mayhugh, 88, passed away at home on Sat, Oct. 12, 2013. He was a longtime resident of Leavenworth. Wesley was born May 18,1925, in Mound City, a son of Orville Dell and Villa Fern Davis Mayhugh. He had four siblings. He attended two years of college, then served in the Navy during WW II. He married Mable Ailene Messer July 21, 1951, in Fulton. They moved to Leavenworth in 1956. They had four children. Wesley operated the Farmer Supply Allis-Chalmers dealership on Cherokee St. until his retirement. He was a member of the Methodist Church. His wife, Mable, son, Donald (Tana), and siblings, Elda Fletcher and Dell Mayhugh preceded him in death, as did his best friend and brother-in-law, Robert Smith. He is survived by his sisters, Maudie Wood (Prescott) and Dorothy Heitz (Bronaugh, Mo.), his children, Jeff (Teresa), Donna, and Bruce, all of Leavenworth, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, as well as many more dear relatives all of whom were his closest friends.
Visitation is Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, funeral services will be Monday, October 21, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Leavenworth Hospice.
