A Leavenworth man was taken to the hospital following a collision Thursday morning at U.S. 73 and Polfer Road, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The accident was reported at 5:18 a.m. The 22-year-old man was driving south on U.S. 73 in a 2000 Dodge Stratus. He allegedly failed to yield to an eastbound 1996 Ford truck. The truck struck the Stratus, causing the car to hit a traffic signal pole in the center of the intersection, according to the report.
The 22-year-old man was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The truck's driver, a 46-year-old Tonganoxie woman, and her passenger were not injured, according to the report.
