  • To the editor:
What reason are the World War II Veterans not allowed to visit the Memorial? The reasons that the article author submits are not viable. The government is shut down, the reason was that to leave the Memorial unprotected could cause the illegal removal of the 4048 Gold Stars and/or some defacing. I understand that reason.
If this person would understand that our National Parks are operated by the government for the people, it makes sense that you would want to protect those wonderful parks/memorials.
This person quotes a figure of 17% of the government is shutdown, I do not know where this person gets their information but numbers can be misleading. I will not argue that point, but I will say that priorities are not the National Parks/Memorials for the U.S. Government during this period.
I also read that this person states "present Democratic Party apparatus. They are beyond sick and disgusting, they're plainly anti-American." How can this person be so judgemental when a lot of Democrats have DD214's. Is this writer's patriotism stronger than theirs? Personally, I would rather see persons compromising instead of acting like an elementary school child who lost a game.
No incumbent will ever get my vote until they act with integrity and put their country ahead of their personal agenda. They, represent the populace that they were elected by. They should vote in the manner that their electorate wishes. They should vote, not impede, nor stop the vote that hurts the American People.
