  • A commercial/industrial-size generator has been found buried on property on Oak Mills Drive, north of Leavenworth.
    The generator was found during the execution of a search warrant by the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 18. The generator, valued at $17,000, had been reported stolen from a job site in Kansas City, Kan.
    Information gathered during the execution of this warrant led to another search at a location in Kickapoo Township in northern Leavenworth County.
    During this search additional stolen property was located including approximately $10,000 worth of stolen fireworks from Platte County Mo. Drug paraphernalia was also discovered.
    A small quantity of suspected methamphetamine and 2.5 pounds of suspected marijuana were also found on the property.
    Reports will be submitted to the Atchison and Leavenworth County prosecutors for a determination about charges.
