To the editor:
And now the spectacle is over! Speaker of the House Boehner managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory!

In case any of us are not aware, the House of Representatives is Constitutionally required to initiate ALL spending bills and then pass them on to the Senate with ultimate approval (or Veto) from the president.

That is what the House of Representatives did – they passed a spending bill and passed it to the Senate which promptly rejected it and forced the partial government shutdown. Yes, it was the Democrat-controlled Senate which shut down the government, not the Republican-controlled House of Representatives which caused the shutdown.

Obama says that if Republicans want to control policy, they need to win an election. How strange for a former professor of Constitutional law to not know that the president should control policy but does not get to dictate how much money will be thrown at a problem – he only gets to recommend or ask for money.
This letter is not a justification of what the Republicans did. How can anyone be happy with them when they participated in a government shutdown and then lost courage, only after putting the country and its loyal civil servants, through a traumatic experience. This lasted two weeks (one day more than I predicted to my associates).

After forcing the shutdown, the Democrats successfully argued that the other guys were at fault (pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!) For their part, the Republicans did little to justify their position or to make sure that Americans knew they had no obligation to fund a program that will add trillions of dollars to our debt, will likely cause default, and in the words of such well-known liberals as multi-billionaire Warren Buffet and CNN newsman Wolf Blitzer, we should start over.
The Affordable Healthcare Act (ha!) better known as Obamacare, was passed over the objections of a majority of Americans. When the House of Representatives refused to fund it, they were promptly blamed. And how about their vocal defense of their actions? Yeah, I didn't hear it either. No wonder they lost the tug of war over our country.

Obama is wrong – even if the Republicans were to win the presidency, along with majorities in the House of Representatives and the Senate, it wouldn't make any difference. Americans should learn from this that Democrats will bankrupt us and the Republicans offer only token resistance. The Conservative Party of the USA is outraged over the Democrats dishonesty and the Republicans weak-kneed, half-hearted opposition.

Kansans need to join us today so we can make a difference in what our "leaders" are doing. Look us up at to see what we believe. I think you will find us to be a refreshing change from the status quo – we actually believe in something real. We get the government we deserve. What do you deserve? What will you do?
