Saturday was another beautiful fall day. Temperatures were cool when we left Leavenworth, but warmed up quickly.
Boss Cross was located just across the river in Waldron, Mo. The course was located on the bluffs just east of Waldron Road.
It was an amazing course. It was filled with climbs, descents, difficult corners, a sand pit and a barrier section.
Santa Fe Trails had a great turn out! Alex Ardussi, Brent Irish and Mike Miller turned out for their first cross races.
These gentlemen rode well on a very difficult course. In fact, there was a crash in the first 300 meters of the race.
Miller remarked that he was happy to start in the back and avoid the crash! They rode the men's category 4/5 race. Ardussi was 18th, Irish got 21st and Miller was 27th. Great job by these new cross racers.
In the master's 40+, Mark Ramsden rode his new Specialized Crux Elite Evo Rival Disc.
This bike is full carbon with hydraulic disc brakes. Ramsden’s bike has a gear configuration for gravel road racing.
I offered him an opportunity to start in front of me, however, he declined. It wasn't long before he passed me on the course though.
Mark finished very well in a field of category 2 and 3 racers, taking fifth place. I finished 9th.
