The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) has named University of Saint Mary men's basketball player Grant Greenberg, of Leavenworth, Kan., as KCAC Player of the Week for turning in a record-setting performance in helping the Spires to back-to-back wins over the weekend. Greenberg, a 6'2” freshman guard, led the Spires to an undefeated weekend, going 2-0 in the KCAC/HAAC Classic. In USM's 97-91 win against Baker on Friday, Greenberg recorded 48 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. His 48 points set a school record for points in a game. He was 9 of 15 in field goals, 1 of 4 in three-point field goals, and 29 for 32 from the free throw line. In USM's 93-85 win against Peru State on Saturday, Greenberg finished with 20 points, one assist, and two steals on 4 for 7 shooting and 12 for 12 on free throws. USM head men's basketball coach Jon Bishop praised Greenberg's efforts during last weekend's contest. “Grant had a fantastic weekend for us and was instrumental in our two wins in the KCAC-HAAC Classic,” Bishop said. “His play down the stretch of both games were terrific. “It's a little mind-blowing that he set a school record for most points, most free throws attempted, and most free throws made in a game in just his second collegiate outing. But if you watched how he prepares every single day to be successful, you would understand. I've never been around a player that works as hard as he does -- and fortunately for us he is going to get even better as he goes.”
