A group of kindergartners from Lansing Elementary School begin running around the track at Lansing Middle School. The students were running Friday morning as part of a program that brought in canned food donations to Catholic Charities. Eight kindergarten classes participated.
Parent Hillary Anderson said her business, Leavenworth Rentals, had been one of the sponsors of a five-kilometer Hustle for Hunger run that benefited Second Harvest Community Food Bank. Organizers still had medals left over from that event, and the medals were presented to the kindergartners Friday.
Anderson said some of the kindergarten students ran two laps around the track Friday and others ran four laps, which equals a mile.
