  • To the editor:
My fiancé and I were riding my brother's sportster one fine day in the later-1960s.
A driver pulled a turn right in front of us. I had to ditch the bike to avoid direct contact. My fiancé hit the pavement the crash and force broke loose her helmet and she was sent to the hospital.
I escaped injury with only minor abrasions; she, on the other hand, had a concussion and was in the hospital for a couple of days.
I had to sell my motorcycle to get her out of the hospital.
We were young, and, of course, the bike was insured but we were not!
    We were unbreakable and bullet-proof.
We were lucky! Today, the younger have a chance to be covered with affordable healthcare.
Take advantage. Reject the campaign to "opt out" of Obamacare, by not joining the insured pool. I remember my youth, college days, parties like the ones on the news in the rage of dancing and drinking.
You know as well as I that parties can have unexpected consequences e.g. that unexpected fight, slip-n-fall, that dare that cannot be dismissed.
Be young, find your own consequences; but do it covered with health care when you can party without so much of that worry.
