  • Streak stops for Spires after loss at Benedictine

  • The Spires’ winning streak stopped at three after a 92-81 loss at Benedictine College on Tuesday. Saint Mary is now 3-2 and will play at Haskell Indian Nations University at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Freshman Grant Greenberg led the Spires with 25 points. He also had five rebounds. Senior Torren Dowdy and junior Jerry Sipple scored 21 and 16, respectively. Sophomore Forrest Hicks led the team with eight rebounds. He also scored seven points. The Spires shot 46.4 percent from the field, but Benedictine shot 62.5 percent. Both teams shot well from beyond the arc. Benedictine made 11 of 16 from long range, while the Spires went 8-for-17. Benedictine out rebounded the Spires 33 to 26.
