  • A woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her husband with a gun Friday in Leavenworth, a Leavenworth Police Department spokesman said.
The woman's husband also was arrested for allegedly battering his wife during the incident.
Police received a report of a disturbance around 7:45 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Osage Street.
Officers met with the husband and wife, both 27. The two had been arguing, said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, Police Department deputy chief.
The wife alleged the husband grabbed her around the neck. She allegedly struck him with what was described as a Guadalupe candle to get him to let go.
Nicodemus described a Guadalupe candle as a candle in a glass holder.
"(The husband) alleged she struck him with a fist several times," Nicodemus said.
The husband also alleged his wife grabbed a handgun, pointed it at him and then struck him above the right eye, causing a laceration.
He was checked at the scene by Leavenworth County EMS personnel, but was not transported to the hospital, Nicodemus said.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and battery. The man was arrested on suspicion of battery. Both were taken to Leavenworth County Jail.
