  • A woman was taken to the hospital Friday following an accident near Tonganoxie, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
    The accident was reported at 1:04 p.m. Friday on County Road 5 south of Laming Road.
    A 22-year-old Tonganoxie woman was driving south on County Road 5 in the 2001 Toyota Camry. She allegedly failed to yield to a 1992 Kenworth truck that was being backed into a private drive. The Camry struck the truck, according to the report.
    The woman, who reportedly had not been wearing a seat belt, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.
    The truck's driver, a 49-year-old Oskaloosa man, was not injured. He had been wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
