An Army major stationed at Fort Leavenworth who was arrested earlier this month for a Florida murder charge has waived extradition, court records indicate.
Ramon Izzo, 35, has been transported from Leavenworth County Jail to Florida.
"He should be there (by now)," Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley said.
Izzo was arrested Nov. 7 on a Florida warrant for first-degree murder.
At that time, he was transported from Fort Leavenworth to the county jail to await extradition, local law enforcement officials said.
The Tampa Bay Times in Florida reported on its website that Izzo was indicted Nov. 6 by a grand jury in Pinellas County, Fla., for the alleged murder of Vince Lee.
Lee was the ex-husband of Izzo's wife. Lee's body was found Nov. 16, 2011, at a residence in Clearwater, Fla.
Lee and his ex-wife had been involved in a custody dispute.
A hearing was scheduled for Dec. 6 in Leavenworth County District Court as part of the extradition process, but court records show Izzo waived extradition Nov. 20.
The Tampa Bay Times also reported on its website that some of the evidence that led to the Florida indictment stemmed from searches Izzo is said to have performed on computers as well as cellphone records.
