  • A Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office spokesman said authorities found prescription pills hidden in the clothing of a man who reported to the Leavenworth County Jail to serve a two-week sentence.
The Xanax pills allegedly had been sewn into the lining of the man's T-shirt. The 23-year-old man reported to the jail Monday to begin serving a 14-day commitment, Undersheriff Jim Sherley said.
The pills reportedly were found as the man was being processed into the jail.
The pills were seized and the case has been referred to the Leavenworth County Attorney's Office for possible prosecution for introduction of contraband into a correctional facility, Sherley said.
