A man was killed Christmas Eve when he was mistakenly run over by a van that had become stuck in snow, a Leavenworth Police Department spokesman said.
The incident was reported at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Apache and Rose streets.
Bradley Kinnard, 50, had been driving the van when it became stuck in a ditch. But, a friend was driving the vehicle when Kinnard was struck and fatally injured, Leavenworth Police Lt. Chris Kear said.
Kinnard apparently called the friend, a 57-year-old man, to help him get the vehicle out of the ditch.
Kear said the friend backed the vehicle out of the ditch and realized he had run over Kinnard.
An investigation is ongoing, but at this point it's believed the death was accidental, Kear said.
