William (Bill) D. Stuart passed away at his home December 27, 2013.

William (Bill) D. Stuart passed away at his home December 27, 2013. He was born on January 14, 1939 in Hutchinson, Kan., son of Walter P. and Billie (Ray) Vincent. He was raised in Alden, Kan., graduated from Alden High School and attended Sterling College on a football scholarship. Following service in the U. S. Army he had a career in corrections, including the Kansas Department of Corrections and 20 plus years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
He was a member of the Sterling United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post in Sterling. 
He married Twila Fevurly October 1, 1961. He later married Linda Hall on June 6, 1986, she survives. Other survivors include sons, John Stuart of Oklahoma City; Mark (Holly) Stuart of Oklahoma City; daughters, Susan (Marty) Stuart of Olathe; Terri (Earl) Prescott of Amarillo; Karen (Shawn) Million of Matamoras, Pa.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Dennis Vincent of Sterling; three sisters, Karen Barker and Mary Jayne Cain of Sterling and Patty Plank of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Deborah and son, David.
Visitation was held from 2 until 7 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at the Sterling United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Darnauer presiding.
Burial will follow in the Alden Valley Cemetery.
