  • USM women drop two in College Classic

  • The University of Saint Mary women’s basketball team went 0-2 in the Columbia College Classic in Columbia, Mo., during weekend play.
    The Lady Spires are 1-11 overall and 0-4 in conference.
    USM lost Saturday to the host Columbia College, 77-54.
    The Lady Spires allowed 31 points in the second half, but 46 in the first half.
    Senior Korbynn Stallbaumber led USM with 12 points and seven rebounds. Juniors Adrianna Brown and Shanice Palmer scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
    Brown, Palmer and senior Jennifer Harmon each had two steals.
    USM also lost 79-54 on Saturday to William Woods University.
    Saint Mary outscored William Woods 37-36 in the second half, but couldn’t overcome a 24-point first-half deficit.
    Senior Adelyn Ezeh led USM with 15 points and two steals. She was tied for second on the team with five rebounds.
    Harmon scored 12 and led the team with six rebounds.
    Stallbaumber and junior Mariah Marusak each had nine points and five rebounds.
    USM will play next at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Pittsburg State University.
