The University of Saint Mary women’s basketball team has won two straight games after conference wins Thursday and Saturday.
The Lady Spires beat Bethany College 65-58 on Thursday at home and Bethel College 52-49 on Saturday on the road.
The Lady Spires are 3-12 overall and 2-4 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The men’s team is 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play after Thursday’ one-point home loss to Bethany and Saturday’s 76-55 win at Bethel.
Five players scored in double-figures for the women’s team against Bethany.
Junior Shanice Palmer and senior Korbynn Stallbaumer each scored 11. Seniors Adelyn Ezeh and Jennifer Harmon, and junior Mariah Marusak each scored 10.
Marusak and Palmer grabbed nine and eight rebounds, respectively.
Against Bethel, Marusak scored16 points and was the lone USM player in double figures.
Ezeh and Palmer each scored eight. Marusak and Stallbaumer each recorded eight rebounds to lead USM.
The men’s team led by nine points at halftime against Bethany, but lost 93-92.
Freshman Grant Greenberg led all players with 39 points and 10 rebounds.
Seniors Torren Dowdy and Shiron Williams scored 14 and 10, respectively. Dowdy led all players with six assists.
Greenberg led all players with 30 points and eight rebounds against Bethel.
Junior Jamal Akakpo and Williams scored 14 and 10, respectively.
USM hosts Sterling College on Thursday. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. and the men’s game follows.
