  • Leavenworth authorities are investigating the robbery of a pizza delivery man, a police spokesman said.
The robbery was reported at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Cherokee Street.
The victim, a 37-year-old Leavenworth man, works for Domino's Pizza. He had been attempting to deliver a pizza at the time of the robbery.
"He went to deliver the pizza and discovered the home was vacant," said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
As the victim was walking back to his car, he was approached by two men. One of the men was armed with a handgun and demanded the victim's wallet and cell phone. The victim turned over the items.
"Both of the suspects took off running," Nicodemus said.
The victim began following the suspects and watched them get into a vehicle. The victim provided information about the suspects' vehicle to police.
Police later located the vehicle. It was parked in the 800 block of Sherman Street. There was no one in the car, but officers found the victim's cell phone in the vehicle, Nicodemus said.
"We haven't made any arrests," Nicodemus said.
But, police have information they are following up on, he said.
