Director Richard Donner said that "Goonies II" is in development and that the entire original cast will "hopefully" return.
ASTORIA, Ore. - It's a glorious day friends. A glorious day indeed. Why you ask? Because Goonies never say die. That's right, "Goonies" director Richard Donner said he is in the process of making "Goonies II." TMZ managed to corner Donner and started asking him questions about comic book movies. Donner directed the first two Christopher Reeve "Superman" movies and was actually complimentary of the superhero movies coming out today. The TMZ photographer then asked Donner if he planned on doing another superhero movie, to which the veteran director responded, "If you consider 'Goonies' a comic book movie." Rumors have lingered for years of a "Goonies" sequel, but nothing ever materialized. Now, it sounds like it may actually happen. When Donner was asked who from the original cast would return, he responded with, "Hopefully all of them." The original cast of "Goonies" has all mentioned in interviews that they would be open to returning for a sequel, even Josh Brolin. This could be another hopeful dream, but the fact it came from Donner gives more credence to this particular bit of news. Returning to a film that is now lauded as a type of classic like "Goonies" can cause heartburn among those who love the original, but this feels a little different. Bringing the original cast back as well as the director bodes well for the possible sequel and actually gets us excited about the possibility.%3Cimg%20src%3D%22http%3A//beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif%3Fcid%3D160092%26pid%3D46%22%20/%3E
