  • A 44-year-old man was arrested Friday after he allegedly broke into the Leavenworth home of his ex-girlfriend and threatened her, a police spokesman said.
The incident was reported at 11:04 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of North 11th Street.
Police responded to the victim's home after a neighbor reported hearing the sound of breaking glass and a woman screaming, said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
Officers entered the victim's residence and reportedly found the suspect in the woman's bedroom.
"The victim reported that the suspect broke in while she was sleeping and threatened to harm her," Nicodemus said.
The suspect was arrested for allegations of aggravated burglary and making a criminal threat. He also was arrested for alleged drug crimes stemming from items found in his possession, Nicodemus said.
The suspect did not have a weapon when he was taken into custody. But, a kitchen knife was found on a bedroom dresser. The knife reportedly had not been there before the incident, Nicodemus said.
