  • A Leavenworth man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly slammed his brother's head into pavement, a police spokesman said.
The incident was reported around 9:20 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Cheyenne Street. Officers went to the location after receiving a report of a disturbance.
When police arrived, the 50-year-old suspect reportedly was on top of his 51-year-old brother. The suspect allegedly was hitting the victim and slamming his head into the pavement, said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
Nicodemus said the incident occurred outside of the suspect's home. The deputy chief did not know what started the altercation.
The victim was transported to the hospital and received several staples to treat a head laceration.
The suspect was arrested for aggravated battery. He also was arrested for interfering with a law enforcement officer.
Nicodemus said the suspect allegedly did not follow orders given by police.
"They had to use force on him to get him into custody," Nicodemus said.
