  • Mary Isabel (Black) Filbert, 93, passed away gently, surrounded by family, Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Lansing, Kansas. She was born to Harry and Olive Black on October 20, 1920, 
in Indiana County, Pa.
    "Izzy", as she is known to friends and family, moved to the Leavenworth area after graduating high school. There she met the love of her life, Clarence A. Filbert (Bud), who preceded her in death on January 11, 1985. They were married in 1940, in Leavenworth, Kansas and over the course of 20 years, they had eight children. She was a loving and caring mother and friend to everyone she met. She 
will be missed deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
    She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margaret Ruth Jackson and Esther Caroline Doyle, a grand-daughter, Traca Kay Filbert, and also two daughter-in-laws, Sharon Louise (Baskas) Filbert 
and Karen DeAnne (Buatte) Filbert.
    She is survived by her brother, Robert Wilson Black and by her children; Harriet Kay Smith and husband James, John William Filbert (Bill) and wife Sabra, Clarence Albert Filbert II (Clancy), Daniel Jay Filbert (Dan), Nancy Isabel Lonas and husband Jim, James Edward Filbert (Jim), Charles Bennett Filbert (Chuck) and wife Venita and Judy Ann Peters and husband Kevin Cammack. She is also survived by 20 
grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
    "Izzy" never met anyone who wouldn't later become her friend, she was a compassionate and kind woman to everyone she met. She instilled in her children strong family values and togetherness that will 
always be held dear. Along with a beautiful smile she had a brilliant mind always ready to answer the 
next question.
    Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A Graveside Service with burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lansing Historical Museum or the Council On Aging. Condolences may be left at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com.
