  • A Leavenworth man was arrested early this morning after he allegedly struck a roommate in the face with a hammer, a police spokesman said.
    Leavenworth police received a report of a disturbance at 12:10 a.m. at an apartment building in the 600 block of Oak Street.
    When police arrived at the apartments, a 50-year-old man reported that his 53-year-old roommate allegedly struck him in the face with a hammer during an argument, Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens said.
    Kitchens said the victim did not require medical attention for injuries to his face and mouth.
    The suspect was arrested for aggravated battery.
    Kitchens said police still are trying to determine what sparked the argument.
