  • A Leavenworth woman reported that she jumped out of a moving car Wednesday to escape an ex-boyfriend who kidnapped her, a police spokesman said.
The incident was reported the next day.
Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said a 27-year-old woman alleged that her 40-year-old ex-boyfriend grabbed her and pulled her into his vehicle. The incident was said to have occurred around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Pawnee Street.
The suspect allegedly threatened to kill the woman, Nicodemus said.
The woman jumped out of the car at one point as the vehicle slowed.
"She was able to get away," Nicodemus said.
He said the vehicle apparently traveled a couple of blocks before the woman made her escape.
Nicodemus said he didn't know if police had yet spoken with the suspect.
