  • Leavenworth School Board members voted to purchase computer equipment and not renew a teacher's contract Wednesday during a special meeting.

School Board members technically had two special meetings. They first met in executive session for about 15 minutes to discuss personnel matters, according to meeting records.

They then began the second special meeting during which they approved $263,055 worth of computer equipment from various vendors.

The equipment is being purchased as part of a digital transition plan for the use of computer devices such as iPads and Chromebooks in classrooms. Board members approved this plan last month.

Board members also approved Wednesday a resolution to not renew the contract of Karen Hooser for the 2014-15 school year, records show.

Last month, board members voted to notify Hooser of their intent not to renew her contract.

Also Wednesday, board members approved student handbooks and a staffing report.
