To the editor:
The Lansing Historical Society conducted its 10th Annual “On the Run”5K on Sunday. This year, the society also conducted races for younger children from ages 3-9 years old.
This fundraiser helps support the Lansing Historical Museum and could not be conducted if not for the support of local business enterprises who sponsor this annual event.
Sponsors and supporters this year were Smith Chiropractic, Butler’s Muffler & Brake, Virginia McQuillan, Davis Funeral Chapel, Dairy Queen, Bob & Terri Ulin, R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, Young Sign Company, Advantage Printing, Caraway Printing, Lansing Veterinary Hospital, Country Club Bank, Exchange Bank, Citizens Savings & Loan Association, Lansing Photo Works, Geiger Ready-Mix, Jay Carter Chiropractic, Mike Nielson, Realtor, Taco Johns, The Kirby Family, Sarah Henke, Derrick Jackson of Edward Jones, Joey’s Lawn Pro LLC, Econo Lodge, and Mama Mia’s.
The Lansing Historical Society wishes to thank these sponsors for stepping up to support the community and a worthy cause. Also, we would like to thank the 123 5K participants and the 16 kids participating in the event this year.
This is a chip timed event, but the success of this event depends on the cooperation and support provided by the Lansing Police Department, Leavenworth County Fire District No. 1, the Lansing Correctional Facility and the Pilot Knob Radio Club. Without the support of the above listed organizations and the numerous volunteers assisting in planning and managing the event, the event would not be possible.
The Lansing Historical Society again wants to sincerely thank the above listed sponsors and volunteers for their generous support along with the following local businesses which provided door prizes and coupons — Mr. Goodcents, Petro-Deli, Tractor Supply Company, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Daylight Donuts, Fou Cakes, Sis Sweets, Holiday Inn, Hardee’s, Goin’ Postal, Kansas Country Store, The Pot Rack, Sonic Drive-In (Lansing), St. John’s Hospital, Bob Riese, Laura Phillippi, Francis Wayman, Verlin Tompkins and Cassie Blankenship.
President, Lansing Historical Society
