To the editor:
Below is a poem I wrote, called "Call to Arms."
Soldier ready now
as then
when some gave all to answer the call
of McNamara's folly
leaving a country with wounds not healed
and names on a wall
that bring little comfort
to those still left confused
by honor withheld and glory denied
to unwanted heroes who fought
the mistaken war

Soldier betrayed now
as then
when the brightest and best at last confessed
in arrogant apology
it was all for nothing
forever names on a wall
for nothing
the solider is ready now
as then
to answer the call.
