Tommie T. Thomas, 65, of Leavenworth, passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his home, surrounded by family.
Tommie T. Thomas, 65, of Leavenworth, passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 24, 1949, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Earl and Sarece (Kenyon) Thomas.
He was employed by Leavenworth Unified School District 453 for 22 years. Tommie underwent a successful liver transplant in October of 2007.
On March 14, 2008, Tommie married Pamela J. Cordt. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Tiana McElroy of Oswego, Kan.; three brothers, Jimmie (Becky) Thomas, Ronnie (Mary Kay) Thomas and Kenneth “Pete” (Marsha) Thomas; two granddaughters, Ella and Claire; an uncle, Kenneth (Pat) Kenyon; an aunt, Silva Kenyon; three nieces, one nephew and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a half brother, Earl Thomas Jr.; a half sister, Jean Ann Jordan; and a nephew, Daniel Thomas.
Tommie was a kind and loving person. He enjoyed playing guitar and woodworking.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the University of Kansas Hospital Center For Transplantation Fund or Heartland Hospice.
