Jennie Mae passed away June 28, 2014 after a two year long battle with cancer.
Jennie was born December 14, 1954 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Eugene M. Gauger Sr. and Edith B. (West) Gauger.
She married Elmer Berg in 1974, two children were born from that union, Elmer Berg Jr. and Misty (Castor) Berg.
She married Dennis Land in 1984, there were no children born to that marriage.
Jennie was a caretaker of many people her entire life, she also was a bookkeeper for various companies. She loved music, dancing and always enjoyed the company of family and friends. She never knew a stranger and always welcomed anyone for a meal or a place to lay their head in her home. She was one of a kind and very outspoken on subjects she truly believed in.
Jennie is preceded in death by both her parents, her brother, Eugene Gauger, Jr. and her two children Elmer and Misty.
Jennie is survived by two grandsons Dakota Castor and Tyler Berg, both of Leavenworth, Kansas, one brother Ernest F. Gauger of Leavenworth, two sisters Brenda (Roger) Munsterman of Kansas City, Missouri and Debra Simanowitz of Leavenworth. Also survivors include nine nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews and five great, great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.
Jennie’s wishes were to be cremated and no services are being held, her wishes were for a “Celebration of Life” get together with family and friends. The “Celebration of Life” will be held on July 12, 2014 at 3 p.m. Her niece Debbie (Gauger) Schmidt will host the gathering at her house. Address: 1820 Seneca, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048.
The family suggest all memorial contributions be given to Hospice House of Kansas City, Missouri.
