Dorothy L. “Dot” Simanowitz, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at University of Kansas Medical Center following a brief illness.
Dorothy was born on April 23, 1931 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Peter Joseph and Constance Louise (Garstecki) Lada.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She married Richard B. Simanowitz on October 28, 1955 in Leavenworth. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1994.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Surviving family includes daughter, Debbie (Greg) Frisbie, son, Rick (Lisa) Simanowitz, four grandchildren, Jason (Bethany) Frisbie, Nick (Mali) Simanowitz, Brandi Simanowitz and Michael Smith, and great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Herbie.
Mass of Christian Burial 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Parish Rosary 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 2 p.m. Saturday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to M’Shoogy’s Animal Rescue, Savannah, Missouri.
