  • A woman was taken to the hospital and a boat ended up in ditch as a result of a crash Wednesday on Eisenhower Road, the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office reported.
The wreck was reported at 6:19 p.m. west of 179th Street.
A 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was pulling a camper trailer stalled in traffic.
A 40-year-old Lansing man who was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra with a boat trailer pulled into the other lane to pass the stalled vehicle. The man apparently did not initially see a 2009 Mercury Milan that was approaching from the opposite direction.
He tried to pull back into his lane of traffic to avoid a collision, but the Milan struck the boat trailer, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.
Rick Huhn, chief of Leavenworth County Fire District No. 1, said a boat on the trailer was knocked into a ditch.
The Milan's driver, an 86-year-old rural Leavenworth woman, was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., according to the Sheriff's Office report.
The GMC truck had significant damage. The boat and trailer also was damaged. The GMC truck and Milan were towed from the scene.
