A severed calf head was found Sunday on property in southern Leavenworth County, the Sheriff's Office reported.

A severed calf head was found Sunday on property in southern Leavenworth County, the Sheriff's Office reported.

The incident was reported at 11:29 a.m. in the area of Cantrell Road and 188th Street. The head was found by the property owner.

Authorities were unable to identify the owner of the calf.

Undersheriff Jim Sherley said the calf probably had been butchered and its remains were improperly disposed of.
