  • Crimson Hill Soapworks, 425 Delaware St., is a new downtown Leavenworth business, offering handmade artisan soaps, party favors, bath and body luxuries, fragrance products and more.
Shop owner Angie Wrye said customers have been pleased with the new store, and vice versa when it comes to the Leavenworth market. She tells us more in this Q5.
    1. Angie, why did you decide to open Crimson Hill Soapworks in downtown Leavenworth?
"We wanted to be in a thriving downtown area that had several unique boutique shops. We visited downtown Leavenworth one weekend, talked with several shop owners, and decided this was where we would open our shop."
    2. What does the shop feature? What treasures can KU, K-State and Mizzou fans find?
"Our shop features an incredible variety of handmade soaps and bath and body products, which are all made on site in our Soap Kitchen.
"Our products include artisan soaps, fun kids' soaps, gift soaps, body cream, perfume, sugar scrubs, bath fizz, bath salts, tween soaps and gifts, boys' club soaps, room spray, carpet freshener, laundry soap, goat milk hand soap, and much more.
"We also have a Gift Market section where you will find girls hair bows, baby gifts, kids hooded towels with matching slippers, ladies jewelry and scarves, sports necklaces, shopping totes, diaper bags, messenger bags, backpacks, lunch totes, string backpacks, insulated bag coolers, and bags of all sorts.
"We have a great selection of jewelry and sunglasses for MU, KU and K-State fans. For women, we have several styles of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and sunglasses. For men, we have camo sunglasses for Mizzou and K-State."
    3. Can you tell us about the soap, bath and body products that are made in your Soap Kitchen? What are your favorite products to create, and do you experiment frequently to develop new, unique products and scents?
"I am always tinkering with new product recipes and unique new scent recipes.
“Many of my products and scents are unique to my shop only.
"My favorite thing to make is new artisan soaps since I can experiment with scent recipes and color swirling."
    4. Many of your creations sold out during your opening day recently. What have been the bestsellers so far and what do you hope to add to your selection? How can people sign up for your newsletter to receive special coupons?
"Our sugar scrubs have definitely been a best-seller so far.
“We have already added a few more scents to choose from and plan to add more in the future. Our artisan bar soaps, kids’ soaps, men’s products and bath fizz have also sold well.
"Our customers have also liked our variety of bags and kids' items. In the future, we will roll out more gift sets, seasonal/holiday soaps, body cream scents as well as perfume scents."
