Marilyn Sue Nichols went to be with her Lord Friday, July 25, 2014.

Marilyn Sue Nichols went to be with her Lord Friday, July 25, 2014. She died unexpectedly while on vacation with her family in Orlando. She was born in Sherman, Texas on April 27, 1952 to the parents of John and Tommie Calvert. She was the baby of the family, sharing a loving home with her older brothers John and Tom, and her live in grandmother, "Granny." Her family moved to Fort Worth, Texas when she was four years old. She graduated from Lake Worth High School along with her life-long best friend, Susan McMillan. Susan and Marilyn would go on to college together at the University of Texas at Arlington, where Marilyn met her husband of 39 years, Ralph.
Ralph and Marilyn raised four children, John (35), Meredith (37), Miranda Lee (25), and McCauley (17).Marilyn lovingly supported her husband's U.S. Army career, living in Germany for six years, Seoul, Korea for another two years, and many places in the continental U.S. in between, before they settled in Leavenworth County in 2001, upon Ralph's retirement from active duty.
Marilyn was a Registered Nurse (RN) and the Lactation Consultant for Cushing Hospital for many years. She was admired and respected by many of her patients, and will be sorely missed.
Marilyn just recently retired two months ago.
Marilyn had a zest for life that was infectious. She had a "green thumb," and loved to garden, spend time in her custom-built greenhouse, and take care of her Palomino Quarter horse "Emily" "and her "blond chickens" - which was fitting since she was such a beautiful blond chick herself.
She also loved to go camping in her recreational vehicle (RV) with her family, along with tooling around town in her Jeep, and cooking many a delicious meal on her industrial Viking stove.
Surviving family members include her husband Ralph, Antonio and Meredith(Nichols) Reyes, grandchildren – Mary-Katherine, Noah, Elizabeth, Samantha, Junior Reyes; John and Nicole Nichols, grandchildren- Andrew, Troy, Ryan Nichols; Miranda Lee and McCauley Nichols.
Although Marilyn will be missed here on this earth, heaven has gained another worthy servant.
She is smiling down on all of her family and friends, and is enjoying spending time with her other unborn children and many pets that went before her, joining her mother, father, grandmother, and brother John whom preceded her in death.
Family will receive friends Monday, August 4, 2014, 4 to 6:30 p.m. with the Rosary at 6 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014, 10 a.m. in the St. Francis de Sales Church, with burial following in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be left on Marilyn’s online guestbook at
