A Tonganoxie man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for drug charges and fleeing from a police officer, according to a prosecution official.

John Ragan, 42, was sentenced Friday in Leavenworth County District Court in two cases.

In one case, Ragan reportedly had been found June 23, 2017, to be in possession of 200 grams of methamphetamine, a scale and more than $3,500 in cash, according to County Attorney Todd Thompson.

In the other case, Ragan reportedly fled from a police patrol car and committed five or more moving violations during the pursuit. At times, Ragan’s vehicle reached speeds of 110 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to Thompson.

“Drugs are the root to so many of our crimes in our community,” Thompson said in a news release. “We will continue to fight to keep drugs off our streets.”
