I'm sure I have, but right now for the life of me I can’t think of another game where I saw an entire team shoot so well like I did last night at the USM vs. Kansas Wesleyan contest.
The Spires won the game 106-80, but the final team stat line is what I want to bring to your attention.
“The final shooting stats were eye popping. As a team Saint Mary shot 52 percent from the floor, 47 percent from behind the 3-point arch and was 17-for-24 from the free throw stripe.
Three Spires finished with double-digit point totals, Kevin Harvey and Jordan Wilcox each had 22 a piece while JEB Greenberg put in 20, and 10 total Saint Mary players tallied a point.”
It was an unbelievable shooting performance and really got me thinking that Saint Mary has a good shot — pardon that pun — at the conference title this year.
There are still some things on defense that need to be tightened up, but offensively the team’s balanced attack and deadeye shooting has to be near the top, if not the best, in the KCAC.
If the Spires can keep this up, look out world… and by world I mean the rest of the conference.
