What it is: The kickoff for the Carnegie’s 2010 gallery schedule, the exhibition will offer a bit of everything, from ceramic pieces to wood sculpture to prints, according to Elizabeth Hill, community development coordinator for the center.

Hill said between 30 and 40 pieces will be shown during the exhibition.

They are drawn from the collections of those patrons and artists who have helped with the center over the years, including past and current staff.

Among the works are pieces by well-known artists like Marc Chagall from the personal collections of Vicki and Steve Kaaz as well as original works from current Carnegie director Carolyn Singleton, University of Saint Mary art professor Susan Nelson and the center’s first co-directors, Rebecca Johnson and Mary Ellen Maxwell.

Hill said Johnson and Maxwell have helped with the center since they helped establish it in the 1980s.

“They still volunteer for us and are really helpful,” she said.
