A prison inmate accused of assaulting a female guard at the Lansing Correctional Facility has been found mentally competent to stand trial, according to a prosecution spokeswoman.
The ruling came Wednesday during a court appearance for Rico Glynn, according to Deborah Owens, spokeswoman for the Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office.
Glynn, 28, had undergone a psychological evaluation at the state hospital in Larned.
A hearing for motions in the case was scheduled for Nov. 10, Owens said.
Glynn is charged with aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, aggravated sexual battery and aggravated kidnapping.
He is alleged to have attacked a female correctional officer in June 2005 at LCF.
Glynn previously has been convicted of multiple crimes in Sedgwick County including attempted murder and rape.
He also has an earlier drug charge conviction in Shawnee County, according to information posted on the Kansas Department of Corrections Web site.
