1199    Public Notices    NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR  BITTERSWEET STREET ASSESSMENTS  You are hereby notified that the City Council (the "Council") of the City of Lansing, Kansas, (the "City"), will hold a public hearing at City Hall, 800 1st Terrace, Lansing, Kansas, on September 4, 2008 at 7:00 PM, for the purpose of considering and hearing any and all objections and comments to an assessment roll and proposed ordinance prepared in connection with the construction of certain street improvements to Bittersweet Street in the City (the "Project") to the benefit of certain real property in the City as described in and authorized by City Resolution B-18-06 (the "Resolution").  The Improvements are substantially completed and the costs related thereto total approximately $1,773,000 (the "Project Costs").  The Project Costs will, pursuant to the Resolution and an agreement by and between the City and Unified School District No. 469, Leavenworth County, Kansas, (the "District"), be payable by the District in no more than 15 annual assessments not to exceed $85,000 annually with the remainder being paid by the City as a whole.    The District’s realty subject to the assessment is: the 52.5+/- acres generally located in the West 70 acres of the South half of Southeast quarter section of Section 24, Township 9 South, Range 22 East of the 6th P.M., City of Lansing, Leavenworth County, Kansas as is more particularly described at Book 630, Page 1776 and Book 632, Page 1235 in the books of the Leavenworth County, Kansas Register of Deeds office and also identified as real estate parcel numbers 106 24 40 04 1 and 106 24 40 04 2 on the City tax rolls.   The assessment roll is on file in the office of the Finance Director and may be examined by any person interested thereto.  Any person may attend the hearing and may make such reasonable comments, objections or inquiry as they deem necessary, either verbally or in writing, at said hearing or the adjournment of the meeting.
