The 83rd annual Leavenworth County Fair gives residents a chance to celebrate the agricultural way of life — and kick back and have fun.

On Tuesday, the fair opened with a presentation of flags by the Tonganoxie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9271 at noon and a parade in the evening.

David Todd, president of the Leavenworth County Fair Board, the fairgrounds at Tonganoxie will not only host the livestock and other animal judging that is common to the annual event, but a number of other attractions.

Todd said the fair this year features many of the same activities as it did last year.
