From 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday the Carnegie Arts Center will host an open house. The event is free to the public, and anyone interested in the Carnegie Arts Center and the programs the Carnegie provides to the community are welcome to attend. The heat wave is about to break this weekend, so it’s time to venture out and enjoy a respite from the dog days of summer.

The open house includes pottery demonstrations, art projects, cookies, punch and a musical instrument “petting zoo.” The musical instrument petting zoo allows individuals interested in music lessons an opportunity to test drive a musical instrument before they decide to schedule lessons. The instruments are brought to the open house care of Scaling Barriers, a local non-profit music organization that provides musical instruments to school-age students who might not otherwise be able to participate in their school bands.
