A woman was taken to the hospital after her car struck a cow Tuesday in southern Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff’s Office.

A woman was taken to the hospital after her car struck a cow Tuesday in southern Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported at 7:17 p.m. on 206th Street south of Stillwell Road.

A 1999 Honda Civic struck the cow. The car’s driver, a 53-year-old woman, was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to Lawrence Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

Sherley said the cow did not survive the crash.

The car had what was described as disabling damage to its front end. The vehicle was towed.
