Chocolate will be the star attraction Saturday at the 10th annual Chocolate Event at the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum in downtown Leavenworth.

The event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum, which is located at 320 S. Esplanade St.

The event is a fundraiser for the Women’s Community Y children’s programs.

It will feature chocolate in all its forms, including chocolate cookies, cakes and breads. There also will be savory dishes and the ever-popular chocolate fountain.

“It’s a tasting experience,” said Lisa Schmidt, executive director of the Women’s Community Y.

There also will be several basket raffles and door prizes given away during the event.

Wujeong Duncan will be the guest musician, playing the harp.

The carousel at the museum will be open for rides at normal rates.

The annual event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Women’s Community Y.

Schmidt said the Chocolate Event raises an average of $5,000 each year for the organization’s programs.

The Women’s Community Y is an early learning center. Schmidt said there are 52 children from 39 families enrolled this year.

She said 49 percent of the enrolled children attend on reduced tuition.

The organization has several programs, including pre-school, pre-kindergarten, full-time child care, part-time child care and after school child care.

Tickets to the Chocolate Event are $12 in advance and group rates are available. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Women’s Community Y, 520 S. Broadway St., and Candle Queen Candles, 500 Shawnee St.

Tickets are $15 at the door on the day of the event.
