A Leavenworth man reported that he was shot during an argument with two other people, a police spokesman said.

The 19-year-old man’s wound is not considered to be life-threatening. The incident, which was reported at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday, is said to have occurred in the 700 block of Michigan Street.

Police met with the victim at Saint Luke’s Cushing Hospital following the incident.

The man told police that he was confronted by two suspects outside of his residence. An argument ensued, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

“One of the suspects struck him with a handgun,” Nicodemus said.

As the victim was struck, the firearm discharged. The victim suffered a gunshot wound on the back of his left shoulder.

The two suspects left after the shooting.

The victim knows the two suspects and identified them to police. Nicodemus said police have not yet located the two suspects.
