A man was taken to the hospital after his vehicle overturned Sunday night in southern Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff's Office.

A man was taken to the hospital after his vehicle overturned Sunday night in southern Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff's Office.

The crash was reported at 10 p.m. on Evans Road at Stranger Creek.

The driver, a 41-year-old man, told authorities he had been texting when his 1995 Chevrolet Blazer went off the road and overturned in an embankment, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

The driver, who had been wearing a seat belt, was able to walk back to the road to get help.

He was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, to be treated for minor injuries.

The driver complained of an ankle injury. He also was struck by objects inside the vehicle as it overturned.
