One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a four-vehicle crash at Kansas 7 Highway and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a news release.

The crash was reported at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

It appears a white sport utility vehicle that was traveling west on Parallel struck the rear of a tan SUV that was stopped in traffic at the intersection. This caused a chain reaction as the tan SUV struck a box truck, and the box truck struck another SUV, according to the release from Officer Cameron Morgan of the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The driver of the tan SUV that was rear-ended was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the white SUV was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries, according to the release.

The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered only minor injuries.

The name of the driver who was killed was not immediately released.

The accident was said to still be under investigation.
