Merchants in downtown Leavenworth will take to the streets – or sidewalks – for three days this week.

Leavenworth Main Street is hosting its Summer Sidewalk Sale from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Numerous downtown shops and stores will participate in the event, and most will be selling their merchandise from tables set up along the sidewalks.

Downtown Leavenworth also will be the site of the Main Street Alive After Five program Thursday.

The program, titled Summer Cool Down, will be held from 5-8 p.m. at several businesses and shops in the downtown district.

Visitors are invited to stroll historic downtown Leavenworth and sample food and beverages at the different stores.

Tickets are $20 for first-time participants and $15 for returning participants.

Tickets can be purchased at Leavenworth Main Street, 416 Cherokee St. For more information, call 913-682-3924.

Leavenworth Main Street also will host its Free Summer Concert Series Saturday night.

Dusty Rust will be the featured performer at the concert, which will be held from 7-10 p.m. at Haymarket Square.

Grinders High Noon will be the featured food vendor.

Beverages will be available for purchase. No coolers are allowed in the venue area.
